What will a peel treatment do for my skin?
A peel can help address sun damage, crows feet, hyperpigmentation, acne, scarring and rosacea. See the Signature Facial Therapies page to learn about our many facial treatment options.
How do I prepare for a peel?
Do peels hurt?
No, the chirally correct skin peels I administer do not hurt, although some stinging and itching can occur. Some skin is more sensitive than others.
What will my face look like immediately after a peel?
A select few of my peel treatments are left on overnight. You should except your face to feel slightly sticky. Please plan to not apply makeup after this treatment. Some people experience skin that looks and feels flushed, but this does not occur with everyone. Light flaking may occur in the days following a peel.
What should I do after my peel?
Sun should totally be avoided
You must use a chemical-free sunblock daily
Do not sit in the sauna or Jacuzzi or do any strenuous exercise following your treatment. Sweating will make your skin sting/burn and can be uncomfortable
Do not use Retin-a or Renova for 3 weeks post peel
Do not use AHA, BHA or retinol creams for 2 weeks after peel
Do not use topical exfoliants for 1 week (or more) post peel
What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash Extensions are a popular service and product that lengthens and thickens your own natural eyelashes. Lash extensions are single strands of synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied to each individual natural eyelash one by one for a natural and beautiful look. Eyelash extensions are perfect for special occasions or for day-to-day wear.
What do eyelash extensions look like when applied?
With proper application (meaning one synthetic eyelash applied to one natural lash) the look and feel is completely natural and real. No one will know you have extensions. They will just think you were born with beautiful, long lashes!
How long will eyelash extensions last?
When applied properly, eyelash extensions will last the length of the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes. Everyone's experience will differ based on day to day activities but over all, touchups should only be required every 2 to 3 weeks. A special long-lasting waterproof bonding agent is used.
How often should I get touch ups?
I recommend getting a touch up every 2 to 3 weeks. If you wait too long your eyelash extensions will fall out and you will require a full set. Your natural eyelashes fall off every 45 - 60 days due to the natural growth cycle and are naturally replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. Other factors such as expsoure to steam or touching your eyes alot may cause the extensions to fall sooner. A touch up is needed to fill in any lashes that have fallen out. Touch ups average about 60 minutes.
Can I apply mascara to eyelash extensions?
Can I use eyelash curlers with eyelash extensions?
Can I swim, shower, exercise or visit a spa while wearing eyelash extensions?
How do I take care of my new eyelash extensions?
Please clean your lashes with a recommended cleanser daily. Removing natural oils as well as skin care products is essential in keeping your lashes fresh for as long as possible.
Gently comb your lashes with the provided lash brush to avoid tangling of your new lashes.
Avoid hot steam or sauna
Do not rub your eyes
Only use water based mascara (optional)
If applying mascara do so from middle to tip, avoid root area
Use water based eye makeup remover
Do not perm your lashes
Do not use a mechanical eyelash curler
Do not pull on your lashes (this may cause your natural lashes to come out prematurely)
Are eyelash extensions FDA approved? Are they safe?
How long will it take to apply eyelash extensions & how is it done?
The initial application of lash extensions normally takes anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours. You will lay comfortably on my facial table with your eyes closed. Before beginning, I will apply a gel pad under your eyes to cover your lower lashes . Next, I will apply an extension to each individual eyelash.
Can I choose the look I want?
Eyelash extensions are available in a number of lengths and thickness. I consult with you first to see which style appeals to you. I also determine what your lashes can hold in regards to size. Each person's lashes will vary in strength and length. I take this into consideration when creating a look for you. The overall look of the extensions can be very natural.
What if I break out?
This is to be expected, particularly the first two or three times waxing due to unknown trauma to the sebaceous gland. This will subdue over time.
Won't the hair grow back thicker & darker?
This is not possible; it's an old wives tale. Over time with frequent waxing, hair regrowth weakens and comes in finer and thinner, but frequency and diligence is required to achieve results. If hair darkens and grows in thicker, it's a function of hormones, not waxing.
What about ingrown hairs?
Genetics: Some clients are prone to ingrown hairs due to their genetic make-up. Consult me for the best follow up care. This normally will include some type of exfoliating treatment.
Client Error: The client must avoid tight clothing after waxing, especially in waxed areas. Tight clothing may result in irritation and ingrown hairs. The client should, after 24-48 hours, use some type of exfoliating product to keep dead skin from accumulating in the areas that tend to become ingrown (i.e., bikini, upper thighs, underarms, back of neck, calves, etc.).
Weakened Hair: As the client continues with waxing, hair will begin to weaken and thin. My clients should continue to use their exfoliating products and procedures as recommended.
When not to wax:
If you use Retin-A, Renova, Accutane, or any other questionable medications or any other skin thinning substance such as excessive use of AHA's (glycolic).
If you have any systematic disease such as cancer (risk of infection), diabetes (very prone to bruising), herpes simplex (cold sores), etc.
If you have vascular problems such as, varicose veins.
If you have open wounds, infection, inflammation, hypersensitivity.
If in doubt, don't wax!
After waxing avoid:
Outdoor sun exposure for 24 hours
Makeup, if face waxed
Hot water, saunas
Deodorant with aluminum
Salt glow / stimulating body or facial treatments
Tight clothing for legs / bikini
Tanning beds for 24- 48 hours
